From the menu on the left hand side of the Workbench screen, click Create:
This opens the Job Editor screen, with the Spatial drawing tools and the Details section on the left hand side, and the map on the right.
First, you need to center the map on the area of works, panning and zooming in and out as required.
Select a drawing tool to create your AOI and mark the area on the map. If you make a mistake, you can click the Edit button to make amendments.
Next, you need to fill in the details of the job to provide other organizations with an understanding of the works being done and when:
Visibility
There is an option for visibility of a job. This allows you to manage who can see the job, whether it is:
- Draft (for Internal use only)
- Private (shared with the Territory Owner), or
- Public (more widely shared with other organizations).
All jobs follow the same visibility hierarchy - Draft, Private, Public.
A job does not need to have its visibility updated, however, the benefit of collaboration will be lost if other organizations are unaware of the existence of the planned works.
To progress a job's visibility, click the box labelled Visibility. You can see the current visibility of the job to the right of this box:
Once a job has progressed visibility (from Draft to Private, or Private to Public) it cannot be returned to its previous visibility as other organizations will have already been notified. A job can have its visibility changed from Draft to Public in one step if required.
Is Negotiable?
Another option you can choose is whether or not to make the job "Negotiable". This indicates to other users your willingness to consider date and location changes, or not.
When the details are all filled in and the AOI is completed on the map, click Create to save your new job:
Hard Surface Disruption
The Hard Surface Disruption field shows other organizations whether your planned works will break a hard surface. You can select whether to flag a job as involving Hard Surface Disruption or not.
To flag a job involving Hard Surface Disruption, you need to tick the box labelled Hard Surface Disruption? Once clicked on, the Job is flagged to any other organization who has permission to view this job as a job involving the breaking of a hard surface. The Hard Surface Disruption? field can be undone by unticking the box.
See How to Close a Job for information on closing jobs.
